What you need to know before ordering from Amazon Home Services
With Amazon Home Services spreading across the US and parts of the UK, questions about the services and how to ensure that they will get what they pay for, are being asked.
The service, which Amazon launched initially in 2015, is meant for customers to find and hire professionals to do different jobs in homes and businesses, from house cleaning and furniture assembly to handyman services.
Ordering services from Amazon Home Services
Amazon has an upfront price for its services, and you are being charged from your credit card that you filled on your Amazon account.
First, you have to check if the services are available for your area. If the services are not available in your city, check the site later, as Amazon is adding more locations and services pros to its database daily.
To check if the services you want is in your area, click on the services and enter your postcode in the field located at the top of the page. If the services is not available in your country, you will find a box on the right side of the screen with a note that there are no services providers in your area and that it will be available soon, so check again. You can choose to receive an email when the services are available in your country.
After that, all you have to do is to choose a predefined, pre-packaged service and add it to your cart and then schedule 3 preferred dates and time frame for the professional to come in.
You will be sent a confirmation email from the professional assigned to do the job; telling you the time frame he will come in, sometimes you may receive a phone call, within 1 business day.
If the professional isn’t available in the 3-time frames you suggested, he can suggest and confirm another time frame for his arrival.
You can reschedule or cancel a service from “your orders” icon on your Amazon account.
Payment
Since the jobs are pre-priced, Amazon will issue the payment directly from your card.
Direct payment to the services provider is not allowed, and if asked to do so, contact customer service.
And in case that the job needs and additional parts or labour, the professional can change the order on the website and you will have to verify the order and sign it personally. As this action may include increasing the amount you would pay, so Amazon is making sure to be extra cautious when it comes to your money.
In addition, you don’t have to pay any extra trip charges. And if the service provider had to do any extra trips to finish the job, you are not obligated to pay any extra fees.
Purchasing extra parts to complete the service
Some jobs require specific parts such as a wall mounting bracket for mounting your TV on the wall. The service page allows you to choose if you want the service provider to get it for you.
You will find a “What’s included” section on the page, so you can know what exactly is included and what you have to provide yourself.
