Best Tips To Keep Your Windows Sparkling Clean

Cleaning your windows is a very tiresome chore. We’ve all been there. And sometimes, even after you’ve cleaned the windows, they may not look as sparkling as you had hoped them to be. But don’t worry, next time you plan on battling with dirt on your windows, the following tips will definitely come in handy.

Clean windows using microfiber

The last thing you would want to see is lint left on your windows after you’ve cleaned them. To prevent this from happening, always use a microfiber cloth because of their absorbent qualities in addition to them being washable and your windows are left shiny. Some people prefer to use newspapers or paper towels for wiping or drying their panes but if the material isn’t of high quality, then you risk leaving lint behind. Therefore, reusable microfiber cloths are the ideal choice.

Start by dusting or brushing first

You should always dust your windows clean before wiping them with a wet cleaner. You can do this by using a duster or soft brush. Alternatively, you can use a vacuum cleaner which will get the job done faster. Skipping this step before you get started will result in a muddy mess that will make it more difficult to clean afterward.

Of course, it would be recommended that you dust your curtains, shades or blinds beforehand. Dirt from these can get transferred to your windows after you’ve cleaned them and that’s something we’d like to avoid as much as we can. After dusting the shades and blinds, go over the slats with a damp cloth and then a dry one afterward.

Cleaning solution

The next step would be to use a cleaning solution of your choice and spray on your windows before wiping them off. You can either purchase your cleaning solution from any supermarket or you can use homemade ones that you’ve prepared yourself if you prefer taking the DIY path. Bear in mind though that you need to be generous when spraying your windows with the cleaning solution in order to completely rid them of any streak or dirt.

Split up the work

You do not need to clean all the windows of your home on the same day. You’ll just wear yourself out. Instead, break it up by doing it room by room. Some clean their windows a couple of times a year while some others do it once a week. It’s really up to you to decide on when to clean yours, thus, the windows need proper cleaning since it is not something that is done on a daily basis.

Avoid cleaning during hot weather

It is always advisable to clean your windows when it isn’t too sunny. This is because your windows will be hot and the cleaners may dry up before you accomplish your task. This may lead to dirt streaks to be left behind which you will find very hard to remove later on. You can start with the ones that aren’t exposed directly to the sun.

Squeegees

Squeegees are great for wiping your window panes but if you don’t know how to use them right, you will only create more mess. This is because the water from wiping the panes may drip to the floor or on the walls. If you can avoid this from happening, then you can use a squeegee, however, if that’s not the case, then using cloth would be the better choice.
